Trunk or not Treat

Halloween has never been my favorite holiday, but having a kid has made me get more into it again and I really wanted to dress Peyton up into a cute outfit. Since he seems a little young to take actual trick or treating, he can't eat the candy so it's like they'll know we are just going to eat it, we were going to go trunk or treating at our church so that way we could see some people, show off Peyton, and just steal candy from people we know. That plan ended going a little awry. The night started off OK. No one in our family really likes chili that isn't this one brand, we are weird, so we did our own chili feed with baked potatoes for dinner instead of going to the church. Peyton didn't really take a nap all day so he was getting crankified, and he didn't like keeping all of his first costume on (we ended up with two, not on purpose). After getting P and Madison dressed we headed out to make a few quick stops at some people's houses in Onalaska that we knew. We visited with them for a bit, I guess too long, and then headed to the church. Upon our arrival the church appeared to be sort of dead, we looked around back, no one was there either. The clock said 7:45 and it was supposed to last until 9:00. After checking inside to see if anyone we knew was still hanging about we left feeling jipped. We didn't get to show off our cute kids and drove all the way out there for nothing. Luckily I gave my friend Heidi a call and they had just gotten back from it and told us we could stop by so we didn't feel like we totally missed out. How nice. Peyton had a blast playing with her three sons, who were also karate boys, and we visited for a bit. My favorite Halloweens as a kid were the ones where we had a party at the house and had lots of families over and played games, ate food, set up a mini haunted house, stuff like that. I think I will definitely do that next year! Peyton was dang cute though! Peyton's first costume, a ninja (we bought two liked the dinasour best but then never returned this one.)

Madison was dressed as a snowman and Peyton is starting to get cranky!

The tail was definitely one of the cutest parts
